About Irene Barba
I am a retired educator. I spent twenty plus years working with students with intellectual disabilities. I combined my masters as a reading specialist and my masters in severe cognitive needs to individualize instruction for my students. I was extremely satisfied with my role in improving the quality of life for my students and their families.
In retirement, I unleashed that 'tomboy' who chased after six brothers. I combined my backpacking adventures with my passion for photography. I spend the majority of my summers hiking the Sierra Wilderness with camera in hand. The majority of my images were taken in cross-country locations in Sequoia and Kings Canyon Wilderness over the last decade.
About the same time I established myself as a photographer, I met Ray Heid and agreed to help him write his book. The website was established initially to show progress on the book and generate interest. The name, Alpine Divide Publishing was a combined effort of our writing partnership: the Great Western Divide, my backyard, and Ray's home in Colorado on the Continental Divide both considered 'Alpine' environments. I have simplified to Alpine Divide.
The writing process took five years; we published the book in February 2021.

I accept returns for prints damaged during delivery. Please contact me to arrange for a replacement. You may be asked to provide a photo for proof of damage.
